Top Wedding Invitation Trends: Colors, Patterns, Silhouettes and More!
Your wedding invitation is more than a piece of paper inviting guests to your event. In addition to setting the
tone for your special day, your wedding invitation is an extension of your individuality, style, and taste. The
wedding invitation is the first glimpse your guests will have of your wedding day.
Because the design and color used on your invitations will set the mood for your special day, you may be
curious as to what the top trends are for 2009 and 2010.
The color purple has never seemed as chic as it is now and this trend is expected to continue into
invitation recipients. Invoking feelings of romance and magic, purples pair well with orange, green, and blue
accents.
Orange has proven to be another smart color choice for wedding stationery. The fun nature of orange
and all of it various hues convey a feeling of happiness, in spite of the economic news we've had to endure.
Orange can range from terra cotta, salmon, peach and apricot. Warm colors such as hot pink, red, purple,
blue, green and brown all compliment orange and prove this color is going to be around for some time to
come.
Grey is the new black for 2009 and 2010. This versatile and neutral color in all of its various shades is
upscale and uplifting. Pewter and icy blue tints, as well as other earth tones such as taupe and charcoal are
stylish and sure to get noticed.
Back again for another year in the top four color trends is yellow. This vivid and attention-getting color
works well with so many other colors and is the reason it has remained in demand. When combined with
white and black, yellow adds flair of sophistication to any invitation suite. Bright colors such as purple, red,
orange and green when paired with yellow will convey feelings of happiness and joy.
Several design elements have piqued the interest of today's style-savvy bride. Many of these themes are old
patterns but with a fresh, new look. Nineteenth-century patterns are integrated with today's hottest colors to
create a must-have sensation for many brides. Damask, lattice and lace patterns have taken the
industry by storm. When combined with just the right font, these patterns mix the old with new to create a
stunning invitation.
Silhouettes continue to be a popular design theme this year. The craze began with silhouettes of people,
but now has branched out to include all things nature. Butterflies in particular are a popular silhouetted item.
Nature-inspired themes are forecast to be more popular this year. Birds and related imagery have
captured the attention of many brides. We expect to see more bridal stationery featuring hummingbirds,
mockingbirds, nests and cages in the coming year.
